I took an opportunity to further my photography education by attending a photo safari instructed by a great photographer out of Tennessee named Blair Phillips. We started out in Royal Oak, MI as Blair showcased his bright-sunny-day technique. We ended off in Ferndale, MI. In both locations I was greatly impressed by the technique Blair used and I can’t wait to practice and add it to my repertoire. Here are some shots of the day’s activities.
Our very first model was a bridal model. Blair went to great lengths to demonstrates how he poses his models. Good Stuff!
The next couple of models were high school seniors. learned a lot here too.
Dude is CRAZY! He posed her in between a bank of gas meters!
Next, in Ferndale, we did a few other seniors then a final bridal demonstration. here’s the pics…
Yep, that’s a dumpster!
Gettin’ her dramatic spin on!
I like Blair’s fearlessness. When he see’s somewhere he thinks may be a good location he just goes for it. If he thinks there may be a problem he’ll find someone to ask if it’s ok. For instance, on this trailer. He went and asked one of the workers if it would be ok to get some shots with our model on top of it.
Dang, it’s like that?!
All in all, it was a great time. I learned quite a bit. In fact, I’d say the stuff I learned was a game changer for me. Expect to see MUCH better outside shots from me in the near future.
